The purpose of this thread is twofold really....

I am a would-be student midwife in the process of doing the DLC access course. As a mother of 3 I already know where my heart lies in terms of the type of midwifery career I would like to have. I am already in touch with a lovely team of community midwives but would love to have a chat with an independent midwife as that is the kind of midwifery I would ultimately like to practice. Also, I am a bit confused as regards PII - does this mean independent midwives will no longer be able to practice, and if so, from when?? I am in the Exeter area and would love to meet up with someone for a chat - possible somewhere like the canteen at the RD&E??? If you are too far away - any online responses will be gratefully received!!!

Hi, my friend has recently left london where she practiced as private midwife and is now working in the community in Exeter, she may be happy to chat with you but will have to ask her as she is quite private and very busy.
