Default Senior Students publish your dissertations here!

We encourage senior students to publish the results of surveys, studies and dissertations here.

My dissertation results are due 2 weeks today........... if I disappear from this site, you know my result............. eeekkkkkkkk I still have one more assigment to complete before finishing uni, it is only 3,000 words.......so why can't I even think about starting it??? Oh yes, it could be because we are on placement on community as senior students which is pretty full-on, then come home to kids, house cleaning, cooking etc etc and by 9pm, just want to vegetate before bed!!!!!!!! Sorry, I must not sound negative and scare the new students

If I am seen on this site, or the student site in the next few weeks, could someone please tell me to leave and produce my final assignment????? Many thanks

XxX

LOL @ Rio, I am in the same boat. Have a 3000 and a 1000 word assignment to do, but can't seem to motivate myself. Also have started a 7 week caseload project this week and have sooooo much paperwork to sort out for that!
I'm sure somehow it will all come together for us!

I have my grade for my dissertation and I got a 1st for it, so I'm over the moon, just got to wait and see what my overall mark is now, but I'm thinking about publishing parts of my dissertation in the BJM in 2/3 small parts, but it will take some serious breaking down to do so, but other than that I am no longer a student as from friday and get my final mark next friday so its brilliant, just need a job now *sigh*

Well done tracy!

My dissertation looked at the length of the active first stage of labor for low risk primips - I firstly looked at (and dissed) the research that the active management of labour (went all the way back and pulled friedman's original papers) and use of the partogram was based on, then critiqued three more up to date studies on the length of the first stage. How can we argue that intervention is too early and too commonplace without a firm idea of what is 'normal'?

Huge congratulations Tracy - our first fledgeling to RM on the new site. Are you as terrified as me?

Have seen your diss and It is brilliant. You have a very natural flow which reads very well. Congratulations and I'm sure a job will come your way soon.

It taught me that we intervene for no good researched, evidence based reasons, and that no-one knows the exact intervention in 3rd stage (that being active management) that reduces the risk of PPH, such as the timing of cutting and clamping (which seems more beneficial to both mum and babe if left pulsating, in both active and physiological), or the use of an Uterotonic agent, if so which one (research now favours Syntocinon), Ergometrine it seems is quite evil and an anaesthetists nightmare, and really if CCT reduces the risk, as it was used by Aristotle over 2000 years ago apparantly, so who knows, as the years have progressed so too has further intervention, yes PPH rates are lower, but then statistically we no longer live in impoverish situations, and have (for the most) a good diet, hb, lifestyle etc... So whos to say that as a nation overall that women would be now in these times at greater risk of PPH, sorry I could go on and on haha, thanks for your lovely words about my diss though xx
